What is Hyperlane?
Interchain applications
Hyperlane lets smart contracts send data between blockchains. Applications use Mailbox contracts to send and receive messages. These messages can support token movements or contract calls. Developers select Interchain Security Modules for their applications. Different integrations can therefore choose different verification models.
Security participation
HYPER staking supports validators in the default security module. Invalid message signing can lead to slashing. Stakers receive stHYPER as a liquid receipt for their participation. Receipt-token reward mechanics depend on the staking network. Application-selected security remains separate from the default module’s staking arrangement.
Long-term distribution
The token rollout began in April 2025. The published initial supply schedule reaches one billion HYPER over twenty-five years. Twenty percent is assigned to staking rewards, minted quarterly across that period. Expansion Rewards distribute a separate allocation according to messaging activity. Team and early-backer allocations have a twelve-month cliff followed by twenty-four months of linear release. Foundation allocations support protocol stewardship and ecosystem development.
