What is Cortex?
Overview
Cortex provides a public blockchain where machine learning researchers can upload trained models to a decentralized storage layer. Users can execute inference operations on these models through smart contracts, paying model creators each time their models are used. The platform is designed to support artificial intelligence systems on blockchain and enable decentralized AI applications.
How it works
The Cortex Virtual Machine (CVM) executes inference computations and synchronizes results across the network. When a user initiates a transaction, deploys a smart contract, or performs an intelligence inference, full nodes retrieve the model and data from the storage tier to process the request locally. Results are synchronized network-wide before being returned to the user.
Token and supply
CTXC is the native token of the Cortex blockchain. Transaction fees, smart contract deployment, and inference operations require payment in Endorphin tokens. Total supply is capped at approximately 299.8 million CTXC. Token distribution allocates 50% to mining rewards, approximately 25% to the foundation and project operations, and 5% to advisors and the community from genesis.
Team and history
Cortex completed a private token sale from February to March 2018, led by investors including Bitmain and FBG Capital, raising 40 thousand ETH for 60 million CTXC tokens.
