What is Sovryn Dollar?
Overview
DLLR is a crypto-backed stablecoin designed for use within the Rootstock ecosystem. Users can generate dollars by locking bitcoin as collateral, creating a mechanism to access dollar liquidity without selling their BTC holdings. The protocol serves participants seeking dollar-denominated value while retaining exposure to bitcoin price movements.
How it works
Sovryn Dollar operates on the Rootstock blockchain, using RBTC (the native bitcoin representation on Rootstock) as collateral. The protocol is forked from Liquity, an established stablecoin framework. Users lock RBTC to mint DLLR tokens through an over-collateralization mechanism.
Peg and backing
DLLR maintains a US dollar peg backed by RBTC collateral held in the protocol. The system maintains a minimum collateralization ratio of approximately 300%, meaning locked bitcoin significantly exceeds the dollar value of issued stablecoins. New DLLR tokens are minted when users deposit qualifying collateral, and tokens are burned when redeemed or repaid.
