What is Xahau?
Overview
Xahau extends the XRP Ledger with smart contract capabilities through a mechanism called Hooks, which are small programs attached to accounts that automatically enforce transaction rules. The platform addresses the need for programmable contract execution within the XRPL ecosystem while maintaining its security model. Developers use Xahau to build and deploy smart contracts, and users interact with these contracts through the network.
How it works
Xahau operates as a sidechain within the XRPL ecosystem, using Hooks as its core smart contract layer. Transaction fees on Xahau are calculated dynamically based on Hook complexity, as contract execution requires more computational resources than standard ledger transactions. Governance is managed through a decentralized mechanism called the Genesis Hook Governance Game, which oversees token emission and rewards active participants.
Token and supply
XAH is the native token of Xahau, functioning as both a transaction fee mechanism and computational fuel for smart contract execution. The maximum supply is capped at 100 billion XAH, with a current total supply of approximately 274 million XAH. Network fees in XAH protect the ledger against spam and bloat, scaling with transaction complexity.
