What is Canopy?
Security across multiple committees
Validators bond CNPY and operate consensus infrastructure. Committees secure individual Nested Chains. The same bonded collateral can support several committees through restaking. Delegators participate without producing blocks themselves. They can receive a share of committee rewards. Qualifying committees receive protocol subsidies. Nested Chains can additionally offer rewards in their own assets. CNPY fees are recycled into participant rewards.
Declining block rewards
The documented initial reward is 80 CNPY per block. Blocks target approximately twenty-second intervals. Rewards halve after 3,150,000 blocks. Projected block issuance totals 504 million tokens. A separate one-time mint contributes 56 million. Together these produce a projected maximum of 560 million. Governance can change eligible parameters. The treasury receives 70% of block rewards. The remainder funds subsidized committees. Staking rewards compound by default; opting out triggers a reward-withdrawal penalty that is burned.
