What is Derive?
Origin and markets
DRV became claimable on January 15, 2025. Eligible LYRA balances could migrate to DRV at a one-to-one ratio. The migration preserved the total token supply at that stage. Derive's trading infrastructure supports crypto options and perpetual futures. Its exchange combines order-book trading with on-chain settlement. Portfolio-margin accounts assess risk across positions rather than requiring each position to stand alone. Derive Chain was built as an OP Stack rollup settling to Ethereum.
Token participation
DRV can be staked to receive stDRV. Staked positions participate in governance and can delegate voting power to representatives. The launch system permits delegation to as many as five representatives. Unstaking uses a 28-day waiting period. A portion of protocol revenue funds DRV buybacks. The launch policy assigned 25% of revenue to that program. Later governance decisions can change the buyback allocation. DRV also appears in trading and liquidity incentive programs. Derive's token economy is therefore tied to exchange participation, staking and protocol decisions.
