What is TRON?

Origin and use

Justin Sun founded TRON in September 2017; its mainnet launched in May 2018. TRX is used for transfers, resource allocation and voting for Super Representatives. The network runs smart contracts and TRC-20 tokens, including USDT, through the TRON Virtual Machine.

Technology and supply

Delegated Proof of Stake elects 27 Super Representatives to produce blocks. Staking TRX provides Bandwidth, Energy and voting power. Block and voting rewards issue TRX, while resource payments burn it. Supply changes according to these issuance and burning mechanisms.
