What is affine?
AI competition
Miners submit fine-tuned models to challenge the subnet's reigning model. Validators evaluate challengers against a teacher model using held-out agent trajectories. The score measures how well a model reproduces reasoning and action patterns. It uses a teacher-anchored statistical comparison rather than an LLM voting on quality. A challenger must clear a margin that accounts for evaluation uncertainty.
Models and subnet economics
Training checkpoints are submitted privately, while crowned models are released for public use. Submissions are authenticated with miners' Ed25519 hotkeys. The September 2026 payout design distributes rewards equally among crowns earned within the previous 72 hours. A model can therefore retain the throne after its reward window expires. Rewards are burned when no crown qualifies for that window.
SN120 asset
SN120 identifies Affine's alpha asset within Bittensor's subnet economy. Staking TAO into the subnet swaps it for alpha through the subnet's liquidity pool. Unstaking reverses that exchange at the pool's available price. Alpha rewards are distributed through Bittensor's emission system. Each subnet's alpha follows a capped issuance schedule with a maximum of 21 million tokens.
