What is Bancor Network?
Liquidity origins
Bancor introduced its automated token-liquidity model in 2017. BNT served as a common asset linking liquidity pools in its earlier networks. Protocol-controlled liquidity could expand BNT issuance under the applicable pool rules. Consequently, its monetary design should not be treated as a permanently fixed premined cap. Legacy liquidity positions and their accounting are separate from simply holding BNT.
Governance and current products
BancorDAO decisions cover protocol parameters and development. Governance participation uses supported BNT or vBNT staking arrangements. The ecosystem includes Carbon DeFi, which supports programmable trading strategies. Users can configure limit and range orders through its contracts. Carbon's fee-recovery framework includes buying and burning BNT. This mechanism was designed partly to address deficits in legacy Bancor products. Governance determines the applicable fee and recovery policies. Carbon strategies define buy and sell prices independently rather than relying on one continuous pool curve.
