What is Beldex?
Origins and privacy
Beldex was conceived in 2018 and developed from Monero's codebase. Its first network release followed in February 2019. Ring signatures conceal which participant authorized a transfer. Stealth addresses provide one-time destination addresses for recipients. Confidential transaction proofs verify amounts without exposing them publicly.
Consensus and issuance
The Bucephalus upgrade replaced proof-of-work mining with proof of stake in December 2021. Masternodes validate blocks and provide ecosystem services. The documented collateral requirement is 10,000 BDX per masternode. Block rewards issue new BDX alongside transaction-fee income. Separate ecosystem and investor allocations enter circulation through scheduled wallet releases.
Applications and development
BDX pays transaction fees on the Beldex network. BChat provides decentralized messaging, while BelNet supports private network routing. The Beldex Name Service registers names for supported wallet and application namespaces. The Obscura hard fork went live in December 2025. A further upgrade using verifiable random functions for validator selection remained under development in the project's August 2026 update.
