What is BFUSD?
Product design
Binance introduced BFUSD in November 2024 as a futures margin asset. Access later expanded to Simple Earn users. BFUSD is recorded as an account balance within Binance. It cannot be withdrawn to an external blockchain wallet. Holders do not need to lock their balance in a separate staking contract to qualify for rewards.
Backing and rewards
Binance manages a diversified portfolio using delta-neutral hedging and staking strategies. Spot crypto positions are paired with short futures positions to offset directional price changes. Funding income and staking proceeds contribute to the reward pool. Binance maintains reserves and a redemption buffer for the product. Daily rewards depend on the applicable rate and qualifying account balance, rather than a fixed coupon.
Conversion and collateral
Subscriptions and redemptions use a 1:1 conversion with supported dollar stablecoins before applicable fees. Fast and standard redemption methods have different limits and settlement arrangements. Balances held in Futures must be transferred to Spot before redemption. Current product terms distribute calculated rewards in BFUSD to the Spot account. Eligible users can apply BFUSD as collateral in Multi-Assets Mode or Portfolio Margin.
