What is Bitcoin Dollar?
Overview
Bitcoin Dollar is a decentralized finance protocol built on Ethereum that structures BTCD to provide equal exposure to both BTC and USD. The protocol addresses the need for users to maintain a balanced dual-asset position while accessing yield from underlying strategies, eliminating the requirement for constant rebalancing. Core infrastructure includes a USD Vault that accepts USDC and directs capital into BTC-neutral strategies, with a Bitcoin Carry Vault and bdBTC Vault in development.
How it works
The protocol deploys on Ethereum mainnet and uses Morpho's isolated lending markets as infrastructure for its vault strategies. sBTCD serves as the yield-bearing staked version of BTCD, accruing returns through the protocol's asset allocation strategies. Yield is generated from positioning across BTC and USD-denominated assets, with supplementary returns available through volatility-based strategies during market fluctuations.
Token and supply
BTCD is the main token providing dual-asset exposure. sBTCD is the staking derivative that accumulates protocol yields. FISC is the governance token, not yet launched. Total supply is approximately 1.52 million tokens with no maximum supply listed.
