What is BitcoinII?

Overview

BitcoinII is a peer-to-peer digital currency designed to provide an alternative payments network using the same proven architecture as Bitcoin. It operates as a standalone blockchain with no premine or initial coin offering, launched on a clean genesis block. The network prioritizes payments functionality over data storage capabilities, emphasizing accessibility for miners, users, and node operators.

How it works

BitcoinII uses proof-of-work consensus with target block times of approximately ten minutes and difficulty retargets every 2016 blocks. The chain supports SegWit and Taproot upgrades and maintains compatibility with standard Bitcoin tooling. This design allows operators to run nodes on modest hardware and participate in the network with minimal configuration.

Token and supply

BC2 is the native asset of the BitcoinII blockchain and functions as the medium of exchange for transaction fees. The maximum supply is capped at 21 million tokens, matching Bitcoin's monetary policy. New tokens are issued through proof-of-work mining with halvings occurring every four years.
