What is Blast?
Network design
Blast is an EVM-compatible optimistic rollup. It executes smart contracts on its own network while using Ethereum for settlement. ETH pays transaction gas. Supported ETH balances receive yield linked to Ethereum staking. USDB is the network's dollar-denominated asset, with native yield derived from its backing arrangements.
Launch allocation
The published BLAST allocation is one hundred billion tokens. Half was reserved for the community. Contributors received approximately one quarter of the allocation, with separate investor and foundation reserves. Contributor and investor schedules include a one-year cliff. Their vesting extends over four years. BLAST is separate from both ETH and USDB.
Earn App
The current mobile Earn App accepts USDB deposits and pays rewards in BLAST. A deposited BLAST balance can increase the reward multiplier. That BLAST balance does not independently earn yield in the app. Withdrawing BLAST resets the multiplier to its starting level. These rewards are separate from the native yield paid in the same currency as an ETH or USDB balance.
