What is Cetus Protocol?
Trading infrastructure
Cetus lets liquidity providers select price ranges for their positions. Swap fees compensate the liquidity active within those ranges. Different pools can use different fee tiers. The protocol also implements a discrete-liquidity model with individual price bins. Its dynamic fees respond to trading activity and volatility.
Tokens and participation
The maximum supply is one billion CETUS. The coin is issued on Sui. Liquidity-mining programs distribute CETUS incentives to participating providers. Users can convert CETUS into the non-transferable xCETUS representation. That escrowed token carries staking-based voting weight. Governance proposals can address protocol features, upgrades and parameters.
Escrow mechanics
CETUS and xCETUS perform different functions within the same token model. CETUS remains the transferable asset. xCETUS represents escrowed participation rather than an independently transferable currency. Protocol voting is separate from operating Sui's validators. CETUS therefore supports the application economy rather than replacing SUI as the chain's gas asset.
