What is Chiliz?
Network and applications
Chiliz develops blockchain infrastructure for sports and entertainment. Founder Alexandre Dreyfus leads the group behind Chiliz and Socios.com. CHZ connects the ecosystem's fan-token markets with its underlying chain. Chiliz Chain uses the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Its implementation derives from BNB Smart Chain and uses the Parlia consensus engine. Proof of Staked Authority combines validator selection through stake with a limited block-producing set. CHZ pays transaction fees and supports validator staking and delegation. Fan tokens provide club-specific participation and engagement functions within supported applications.
Issuance and burns
CHZ began with an issuance of 8,888,888,888 tokens. The Dragon8 upgrade introduced ongoing inflation in 2024. New issuance funds validator and delegator incentives. The schedule declines toward a long-term annual floor of 1.88%. Pepper8 subsequently changed intermediate rates to account for an additional protocol issuance. CHZ consequently has no fixed cap at its original supply. The chain burns a portion of transaction fees. The Chiliz 2030 strategy also connects ecosystem revenue to CHZ buybacks and burns. These mechanisms reduce tokens while staking issuance continues.
