What is USD.AI?
Protocol and launch
Permian Labs builds the USD.AI protocol. CHIP went live on April 21, 2026. USD.AI provides loans backed by GPU hardware for AI infrastructure operators. Its dollar product is USDai, and sUSDai is the yield-bearing vault token. CHIP has a separate governance role. It is not a dollar-pegged token or a direct claim on a GPU.
Governance
CHIP holders govern collateral standards, credit eligibility and lending-rate parameters. They can adjust hardware tiers, depreciation assumptions and loan-to-value limits. Governance also covers oracle providers, integrations and protocol upgrades. Fee settings determine how origination and other protocol charges are routed. Staking CHIP produces sCHIP participation in the protocol's first-loss insurance module.
Distribution
CHIP's published total supply is ten billion tokens with 18 decimal places. Its omnichain format supports Arbitrum, Base and Ethereum. Ecosystem bootstrapping receives 27.5% of supply, including 10% distributed in the first incentive season. The reserve receives 19.8% for future initiatives. Contributor and investor allocations have no vesting before month twelve, then release one-third and vest the remainder over two years. Token ownership grants no corporate equity or automatic payment rights.
