What is Chutes?
Compute network
Chutes runs AI inference through GPU resources supplied by Bittensor miners. Developers package applications as container images and deploy them through the platform's Python tools. A chute contains application code, while individual functions become callable API routes. The system supports custom models as well as language-model workloads. Its GraVal library checks advertised GPU memory and hardware characteristics. Validator infrastructure also performs device challenges and service checks.
Subnet token
SN64 identifies Chutes' alpha token within Bittensor's subnet economy. Subnet tokens were introduced by the Dynamic TAO upgrade in February 2025. Each subnet alpha token has a separate maximum issuance of 21 million. Alpha is emitted for network participants and subnet liquidity under Bittensor's issuance rules. Yuma Consensus allocates participant rewards using validator assessments. Miners receive rewards for supplying the subnet's compute service. Validators and their delegators receive the other participant allocation. Staking into Chutes involves its alpha market against TAO. The exchange rate changes with the subnet pool rather than remaining fixed. The token operates within Bittensor, while application deployment and GPU verification are handled by Chutes software.
