What is Constellation?
Layer 0 architecture
The Hypergraph acts as Constellation's shared Layer 0. Metagraphs are application-specific blockchains connected to that layer. Each metagraph defines its own rules, data and fee structure. They use the Hypergraph for validation services. DAG supports payments for data snapshots. Ordinary peer-to-peer DAG transfers follow the network's feeless model.
Staking and monetary policy
Validators and delegators receive network incentives. DAG also funds development grants and ecosystem programs. The Metanomics model replaces the old fixed-supply approach with flexible issuance. Its published inflation schedule starts at 6% and declines toward a 0.5% target. The rate is designed to respond to market conditions over time. Emissions are distributed among validators, delegators and protocol-development allocations. Snapshot fees are consumed and removed from circulation. That consumption offsets part of the emission-driven supply growth. The supply therefore depends on network usage as well as issuance policy.
