What is Cronos ID?
Overview
Cronos ID provides a decentralized identity layer built on the Cronos blockchain. The protocol allows users to register unique on-chain identities through domains, receive notifications about protocol events and asset alerts, and communicate with other users and projects in a verifiable environment. These three core services—Domains, Notifications, and Messaging—form the foundation of the platform.
How it works
The protocol operates on the Cronos chain and is centered around three subprotocols: domain registration for unique identities, a notifications service for tracking on-chain events and alerts, and a messaging layer for secure communication. Users interact with these services primarily through domain ownership and token staking mechanisms.
Token and supply
CROID is the native governance and utility token of Cronos ID. Token holders can register or renew domains by paying in CROID or CRO, with discounts available for longer registration periods. CROID holders can also deposit tokens into maturity vaults (1, 9, 24, or 48 months) to earn staking rewards in both CROID and wrapped CRO. Maximum supply is 1 billion tokens; total supply is approximately 999 million, with about 172 million in circulation.
History
Cronos ID concluded its public token sale on November 17th and began token emissions on November 18th.
