What is DEAPCOIN?
Origin
Digital Entertainment Asset was founded in Singapore in August 2018. Its founders are Naohito Yoshida and Kozo Yamada. DEP's first public exchange listing took place in April 2020. The company developed PlayMining as a platform combining games with token-based rewards. Its products also include an NFT marketplace.
Game economy
Players can use DEP to acquire digital artwork and game-related NFTs. Certain NFT assets can provide functions within supported games. Game rewards connect participation with the ecosystem's token economy. Each title determines its own gameplay and reward conditions. DEP is therefore a platform asset rather than proof-of-work mining equipment or a network consensus algorithm.
Development
PlayMining has expanded beyond its early card and arcade-style games. Digital Entertainment Asset also develops games that incentivise real-world tasks. PicTrée connects gameplay with photography of utility poles for infrastructure-related activity. The company describes this area as decentralised physical infrastructure. NFT ownership and access to specific game features remain subject to the relevant marketplace and title rules. Token ownership alone does not grant copyright over the artwork represented by an NFT.
