What is DoubleZero?
Connectivity layer
DoubleZero was co-founded by Austin Federa, Mateo Ward and Andrew McConnell. Its mainnet-beta and token functionality launched in October 2025. Contributors connect private fiber infrastructure into a shared transport network. The network gives participating nodes alternative routes to the public internet. Its initial integrations focus on Solana validators and related infrastructure. DoubleZero improves communication between nodes while leaving block execution and consensus to the connected blockchain.
Payments and incentives
Users pay 2Z to consume network resources, with supported payment routes able to convert other assets into the token. Contributors receive rewards for useful links and associated services. Rewards depend on measured contribution and performance relative to the public-internet baseline. The design includes incentives for the computing and security functions that coordinate the network. Proposed delegation mechanisms extend this role to token holders supporting resource providers.
Issuance
2Z uses Solana's SPL token standard. Ten billion tokens were minted at genesis. Part of that allocation was unlocked for launch, while other allocations follow a multiyear release schedule. The economic design includes burns to preserve reward integrity and discourage artificial traffic. It also allows issuance to support shared security, so the genesis figure is not an immutable supply ceiling.
