What is EURC?
Launch and issuance
The token first launched on Ethereum on June 30, 2022. Its former name and symbol were Euro Coin and EUROC. Circle renamed the existing asset EURC rather than introducing a separate replacement token. Circle Internet Financial Europe issues it as regulated electronic money in the European Economic Area. Each token has a one-euro redemption reference value.
Backing and conversion
Euro-denominated reserve assets support the outstanding tokens. Circle publishes monthly independent reserve attestations. Approved businesses use Circle Mint for euro deposits, token issuance and redemption. The same platform supports rebalancing across supported chains. Supply increases or decreases with customer conversions, without a preset maximum allocation.
Blockchain uses
EURC is available on Ethereum, Avalanche, Base, Solana and Stellar, among other supported networks. Ethereum-compatible deployments use ERC-20 contracts. Solana and Stellar follow their own asset standards. Wallet transfers are processed by the host blockchain. EURC pairs with dollar stablecoins in foreign-exchange markets and can serve as collateral or liquidity in supported lending and trading applications. Bank-account access is required for direct fiat conversion through the issuer's business service.
