What is First Digital USD?
Issuer and backing
First Digital introduced FDUSD in June 2023. Its current issuer is FD121 (BVI) Limited, operating under the First Digital Labs brand. First Digital Trust provides reserve custody. The reserves consist of cash and cash equivalents, including short-dated Treasury instruments. Reserve assets are legally segregated in a trust structure. Independent attestation reports disclose reserve coverage. FDUSD is designed for dollar payments, transfers and trading settlement.
Issuance and supported networks
FDUSD has native deployments on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Sui, Solana, TON and Arbitrum. Each deployment uses its host network's token infrastructure. Supply changes when tokens are issued against reserves or removed through redemption. The asset therefore has no fixed mining-based supply schedule. Direct redemption requires client onboarding and anti-money-laundering checks. Approved clients exchange tokens for the corresponding fiat amount. Secondary market prices depend on exchange liquidity as well as access to that redemption mechanism.
