What is Gold Token?

Overview

GLDT is a digital asset designed to combine the stability of precious metals with blockchain liquidity. Each token represents exactly 0.01 grams of physical gold and is backed by GLD NFTs—non-fungible tokens that represent irrefutable ownership of physical gold bars. The project is launched and governed by Gold DAO, a real-world asset initiative that tokenizes physical gold into both fungible tokens and gold-backed stablecoins.

How it works

GLDT operates as a fungible token backed by GLD NFTs representing physical gold bars. Users can exchange GLD NFTs for GLDT at a ratio of 1 gram for 100 tokens; GLD NFTs are locked in smart contracts while corresponding GLDTs are minted. The token is deployed across Internet Computer, Arbitrum, Ethereum, and Base blockchains.

Token and supply

GLDT serves as a medium for storing and transacting value denominated in gold. The total supply is approximately 595 thousand tokens with no specified maximum supply cap. New tokens are issued when GLD NFTs are swapped into the smart contract system at the established conversion ratio.
