What is Grass?
Network contributions
Wynd Labs is a core development and service contributor to Grass. Participants run clients that make spare connection capacity available to the network. Institutional buyers use that capacity to obtain publicly accessible web data. Routers direct requests to suitable connections. Grass Points measure contribution through uptime and routed data volume. Points are an account reward metric, distinct from the transferable GRASS token.
Token allocation
The original distribution plan totals one billion GRASS. Community allocations account for 300 million tokens, including the first airdrop, later incentives and router rewards. Foundation and ecosystem development received 228 million. Early investors were assigned 252 million, and contributors 220 million. Investor and contributor tokens have vesting schedules that affect when they can be used.
Router delegation
Holders can delegate GRASS to routers through the staking interface. Router commissions are deducted from rewards under the program's rules. Unstaking requires a seven-day withdrawal period. Locked allocation tokens cannot be staked until they vest. The documented staking system currently has no in-protocol slashing mechanism. Its planned decentralization model links delegated stake with router traffic allocation.
