What is Gridcoin?
Overview
Gridcoin operates its own blockchain using a Proof of Research consensus mechanism, combining elements of proof-of-stake and proof-of-work validation. The network positions itself within the smart contract platform, decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN), and decentralized science (DeSci) categories. The project launched on October 11, 2014, and maintains an open-source repository on GitHub.
