What is GUSD?
Minting and redemption
Users mint GUSD through Gate by committing USDT, USDC or USD1. The product uses a one-for-one conversion rate with these accepted stablecoins. Redemption returns a supported stablecoin through Gate's standard or fast redemption route. Issuance follows deposits and completed redemptions rather than a fixed mining schedule. The token targets dollar-denominated settlement within Gate's account and product infrastructure.
Backing and returns
Gate identifies ecosystem revenue, tokenized Treasuries and stablecoin-backed assets as sources supporting GUSD returns. Rewards accumulate from minting and are distributed daily in GUSD. The applicable rate changes with the product's revenue and reward arrangements. Promotional rates and welcome bonuses have separate eligibility conditions. A market-traded GUSD balance may also have a price different from the platform's stated conversion rate.
Exchange uses
Gate supports GUSD in spot trading, Launchpool and Simple Earn. It can also serve as margin or borrowing collateral in supported account products. These integrations let users reuse the asset within the exchange while retaining the applicable earning entitlement. Access, redemption timing and collateral treatment follow Gate's product terms. This GUSD is Gate's product and is distinct from the Gemini-issued stablecoin with the same ticker.
