What is Halo?
Inference and settlement
Operators supply access to models through the Halo command-line software. They can serve open-weight models or resell capacity from frontier model APIs. Consumers request inference through the marketplace. Payments are denominated in USDC. The primary settlement design uses a vault and signed receipts. Operators redeem accumulated receipts onchain rather than settling every request separately. Statistical verification compares model-output fingerprints with independent re-execution.
HALO economy
The August 2026 whitepaper assigns HALO to trust and coordination roles. Operators and verifiers are intended to stake it as an economic commitment. Protocol fees fund an onchain token buyback mechanism. Purchased tokens are divided between stakers and burning under the published design. New token issuance is tied to a declining budget and verified usage. Additional roles and staking capabilities are scheduled in the rollout. Consumers do not need HALO merely to buy inference. The token is separate from the USDC payments operators earn for completed work.
