Fund and ownership
USYC originated at Hashnote, the firm founded by Leo Mizuhara. The fund's recorded inception year is 2023. Circle acquired Hashnote in January 2025 and incorporated USYC into its product platform. Each token represents a share of Hashnote International Short Duration Fund Ltd., a Cayman Islands fund. Circle International Bermuda Limited administers the tokens on the fund's behalf.
Assets and accounting
The portfolio holds short-term US government securities and reverse repurchase agreements. Income accrues through the value assigned to each fund share. Holders do not need a separate staking contract to receive that economic exposure. Subscriptions create tokens according to the deposit amount and current share value. Redemptions retire shares against that value, so USYC does not use a fixed one-dollar redemption price.
Access and settlement
Subscriptions and redemptions use USDC. Eligible investors complete identity checks and use approved wallet addresses. On-chain token movements are reflected in the fund's ownership records. Supported networks include Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Canton, NEAR and Arc. Immediate redemptions depend on available capacity; larger requests follow the fund's settlement process. Integrations can use USYC as margin or collateral while the underlying assets continue generating income.
