What is Hippo Protocol?
Network launch
Hippo Protocol announced its mainnet launch on May 1, 2025. The project developed from Hippocrat. HP replaced the earlier HPO token as part of the network transition. Its infrastructure targets patients, healthcare institutions and researchers. The core aim is to make healthcare data usable while preserving the subject's control.
Data architecture
The protocol's design covers data storage, computation and access permissions. Its whitepaper proposes consent records that can be audited. Escrow and conditional payments are intended to coordinate data exchanges. AI services are a proposed use of the shared data infrastructure. Those application plans do not establish that every service is already deployed.
Coin functions
HP pays network transaction fees. It is also used for staking and governance. The issuance model funds node and validator rewards. Newly issued coins have separate ecosystem, research and marketing allocations. Data-related incentives are another intended use of the coin.
