What is Fluid?

Project and token

Sowmay Jain and Samyak Jain founded the team behind Instadapp. The project has developed DeFi infrastructure since 2018. Its INST token was introduced in 2021 and later renamed FLUID. The governance asset has a maximum supply of 100 million tokens. Token allocations cover the community, treasury, team and investors. FLUID holders can propose and vote on protocol changes.

Liquidity architecture

Fluid consolidates assets in a common liquidity layer. Lending, borrowing vaults and exchange markets connect to this shared base. Depositors access interest-bearing lending positions through ERC-4626-compatible contracts. Borrowers place collateral into vaults and take out supported debt assets. Utilization-based interest models connect borrowing demand with lending rates. Smart collateral allows collateral positions to also supply exchange liquidity. Smart debt similarly allows debt positions to participate in liquidity provision. This structure lets positions earn exchange fees alongside their lending or borrowing activity.

Protocol management

The liquidity layer applies limits to withdrawals and borrowing. Vaults use oracle-based pricing for collateral valuation and liquidation. Governance oversees protocol parameters and treasury decisions. The Fluid Reserve program buys FLUID using protocol revenue. Repurchased tokens form a strategic reserve used in the DAO's growth and governance framework.
