What is iShares Bitcoin Trust (Ondo Tokenized)?
Underlying exposure
The referenced ETF is BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, traded under IBIT. That trust holds Bitcoin and seeks exposure to its price. IBITON tracks the ETF investment through a separate tokenised instrument. It is not a transfer of BTC to the holder's wallet. One token should therefore not be interpreted as one Bitcoin.
Issuer and backing
Ondo Global Markets BVI issues the tokenised securities programme. Its tokens are backed by the corresponding securities and cash in transit. The backing is held through brokerage arrangements. An independent verification agent reviews the collateral. A security agent holds a first-priority interest for tokenholders. IBITON provides economic exposure rather than direct ownership or delivery of the ETF shares.
Settlement
Eligible users can redeem through the programme for the backing's cash value in supported stablecoins. Redemption availability follows the issuer's dealing arrangements. Secondary blockchain transfers are separate from the underlying ETF's exchange trading hours. Supply follows issuance and redemption against backing rather than a fixed mining cap. Network transaction charges are separate from the ETF and tokenisation costs.
