What is JPY Coin?
Issuer and launch
JPYC Inc obtained Japanese funds-transfer business registration in August 2025. Its redeemable stablecoin service launched on October 27, 2025. One JPYC represents a target value of one Japanese yen. The company's representative director is Noritaka Okabe. The issuer classifies this version as an electronic payment instrument under Japan's payment-services framework. It supports transfers, payments and integrations with blockchain applications.
Reserves and settlement
The reserve arrangement uses yen deposits and Japanese government bonds. Customers exchange yen for tokens through the issuer's approved process. Redemption returns the corresponding yen amount. Outstanding supply follows issuance and redemption rather than a mining schedule. The initial supported chains included Ethereum, Avalanche and Polygon. Applications can integrate transfers, balances and issuance requests through the company's software tools.
Earlier prepaid token
The current redeemable JPYC differs from the older JPYC Prepaid product. New prepaid issuance ended in June 2025. Existing prepaid balances remained usable under their earlier service arrangements. The issuer does not provide a direct exchange between the prepaid token and the newer stablecoin. Redemption rights therefore depend on which JPYC implementation a holder owns.
