What is JPYSC?
Issuer and launch
SBI Group and Startale jointly developed JPYSC. SBI Shinsei Trust Bank is the issuing trustee. SBI VC Trade acts as the settlor, initial beneficiary and distribution platform. Initial service began on June 24, 2026 within SBI VC Trade accounts. The launch announcement treated public-chain circulation as a later phase. JPYSC is structured as a specified trust beneficial interest denominated in yen.
Backing and use
The trust invests its assets in bank deposits and Japanese government bonds. These assets are managed separately from the trustee's own property. The intended exchange ratio is one JPYSC to one yen. The token pays no interest or income distribution to holders. It is designed as an electronic payment instrument for yen settlement. Public-chain use cases under development include foreign exchange, tokenized-asset settlement and cross-border payments.
Redemption
SBI VC Trade users can request a purchase-back for yen. Holders can also submit a direct redemption request to the issuing trust bank. Direct redemption requires identity and legality checks. Gas charges, redemption fees and bank-transfer costs can apply. The issuer's published procedure requires payment into an account in the holder's own name. JPYSC is a trust-backed instrument rather than an insured bank deposit.
