What is JUNO?
Overview
Juno is an open-source network that enables developers to create and deploy interchain applications without restrictions. The platform specializes in CosmWasm development, allowing secure smart contracts to be written in Rust. Users range from developers building decentralized applications to token holders participating in network governance.
How it works
Juno is built on the Cosmos SDK and uses Tendermint Consensus to reach network agreement. The network operates as a proof-of-stake blockchain where delegators validate transactions and participate in on-chain governance to direct protocol changes.
Token and supply
JUNO is the native asset that powers all network operations, including transaction fees and staking. The token is used for governance, allowing holders to vote on protocol decisions. Maximum supply is capped at approximately 185.6 million tokens, with a total supply of about 105.6 million.
Team and history
Juno launched its decentralized network on October 1, 2021, with CosmWasm smart contracts becoming operational on December 15, 2021.
