What is JunoCash?
Overview
JunoCash addresses fungibility and privacy limitations of transparent blockchains by enforcing mandatory shielding on every transaction. Senders, receivers, and amounts are encrypted on-chain using the Orchard protocol, while only transaction fees remain visible. The project targets users who require both privacy guarantees and sound monetary properties, including a fixed 21 million coin supply and predictable halving schedule.
How it works
The network uses RandomX proof-of-work consensus, designed for CPU mining to prevent ASIC dominance and enable broader participation. All newly minted coins enter a permanent shielded pool before they can be spent, creating a transaction graph where no links between parties are analyzable. Block times target 60 seconds with a 100-block difficulty window, and mined coins require 1,000 confirmations before spending.
Token and supply
JUNO has a maximum supply of 21 million coins with no premine, initial offering, or developer tax. All block rewards accrue to miners. New coins are minted openly but must immediately enter the shielded pool, ensuring 100% of circulating supply is permanently encrypted and indistinguishable from other coins.
Team and history
The project is maintained as open-source software under the MIT license.
