What is Kinesis Silver?
Bullion backing
Kinesis specifies silver bars with a minimum fineness of 999 for KAG backing. The bars carry refinery identification and serial numbers. Metal is allocated to the system rather than represented by an unsecured promise to acquire silver later. Independent checks of the vault holdings take place every six months. Storage includes insurance for the vaulted bullion. Token supply is linked to metal deposited into the issuance system rather than a predetermined mining cap.
Ledger and transfers
Native KAG runs on Kinesis's Stellar-derived blockchain. Its ledger records ownership changes when balances move between accounts. KAG can be used for payments and trading within the Kinesis platform. An Ethereum ERC-20 representation is also available. KMS Labs maintains native KAG in reserve for that representation. Ethereum transfers and native Kinesis transfers therefore use different settlement infrastructure.
Physical delivery and rewards
Eligible holders can request delivery of the bullion backing their balances. The standard silver redemption minimum is 200 ounces. Delivery requires the platform's verification procedure and applicable redemption, shipping and insurance charges. Kinesis also distributes a share of transaction-fee revenue through eligible holder reward programs. Those distributions come from platform activity rather than interest generated by the silver itself.
