What is Lit Protocol?
Overview
Lit Protocol provides Web3 developers with three core functions: decentralized signing and wallet management supporting both ECDSA and EdDSA signatures, identity-based encryption and decryption using BLS schemes, and private computation execution. The protocol addresses the need for cryptographic operations and sensitive data handling without relying on centralized key custodians. It serves developers building privacy-focused applications across Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and BNB Chain.
How it works
Lit operates a network using multiparty computation (MPC) threshold signature schemes combined with trusted execution environments (TEEs) to distribute cryptographic operations. This architecture enables signing, encryption, and private computation without exposing private keys to any single entity. The network is deployed across multiple blockchain ecosystems including Arbitrum, Ethereum, Base, and BNB Chain.
