What is Locus Chain?
Overview
Locus Chain operates as a decentralized Layer 1 public blockchain targeting DeFi, GameFi, metaverse, smart city, and CBDC applications. The platform aims to provide reliable, secure, and low-cost transaction processing without sacrificing decentralization. It enables blockchain verification services through simplified integration without requiring users to build separate chains.
How it works
The chain uses Account-Wise Transaction Chain (AWTC), a DAG-based structure where each account maintains its own dedicated transaction chain, enabling parallel processing without conflicts. Consensus operates through PoS-BFT, where validators are randomly selected via a verifiable random function based on stake weight, making collusion difficult. The platform incorporates dynamic sharding to distribute network load, verifiable pruning to maintain provable ledger history despite data deletion, and optimized handling of high-volume network traffic.
Token and supply
LOCUS is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum before the Locus Chain mainnet launch, with planned atomic swaps for 1-to-1 migration. The token serves as the primary cryptocurrency for network operations, transaction fees, validator participation, and future governance. Total supply is approximately 7 billion tokens with no stated maximum cap. LOCUS holders and validators earn rewards for network participation.
