What is Macropod?
Overview
Macropod is a stablecoin platform designed to enable digital transactions denominated in Australian dollars. AUDM serves users seeking to transact in AUD across blockchain networks without currency conversion. The platform aims to facilitate efficient, low-cost payments in a digital economy.
How it works
AUDM is deployed across multiple blockchains including Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Redbelly Network. Users can transact in AUDM tokens across these networks, with underlying value backed by fiat reserves rather than algorithmic mechanisms.
Peg and backing
AUDM maintains a 1:1 peg to the Australian dollar. Each token is fully backed by one Australian dollar held in segregated trust accounts at a major Australian bank. Supply adjusts based on redemptions and issuances against collateral held in trust. Macropod holds an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) from ASIC, ensuring regulatory compliance with Australian financial requirements.
Team and history
Macropod was launched in October 2025 as a joint venture between MHC Digital Group and Catena Digital. It is the first stablecoin issuer to receive an AFSL from ASIC.
