What is Manta Network?
Two networks with different roles
Manta Pacific is an Ethereum Layer 2 for compatible applications. Its modular architecture uses Celestia for data availability. Atlantic operates within the Polkadot ecosystem. It focuses on confidential identities and credentials using zero-knowledge techniques. Manta's current development also includes Incognitive, an on-device private AI initiative. Those products belong to different parts of the ecosystem. The token does not make their underlying execution models identical.
Issuance and participation
The genesis allocation was one billion MANTA. The published schedule adds a 2% yearly minting rate from January 30, 2024. The genesis number therefore is not a permanent supply ceiling. MANTA has native and ERC-20 representations. They represent the same initial allocation across supported networks. Holders participate in governance for Pacific and Atlantic. Staking and collator delegation support Atlantic's security. Atlantic also charges transaction fees in MANTA. The token serves liquidity and collateral functions within supported applications.
