What is MCOIN?
Overview
MCOIN operates as a sharded multichain network that connects and facilitates value exchange between different blockchain ledgers in a distributed manner. The network supports both public and private chains, permissionless networks, and external blockchains through its relay and bridge architecture. It enables developers to quickly build custom blockchains optimized for specific use cases.
How it works
The network comprises four core components: a Relay Chain that establishes consensus and shared security; Parachains for independent, optimized chains; Parathreads offering flexible pay-as-you-go connectivity; and Bridges connecting to external blockchains like Ethereum. Parallel processing across multiple chains improves scalability, and the network supports automatic upgrades without requiring forks.
Token and supply
MCOIN has a maximum supply of 500 million tokens. The native token serves three primary functions: securing the network through staking, enabling network governance where token holders vote on protocol decisions, and bonding to connect parachains to the relay chain.
Team and history
MCOIN is the flagship protocol of Web3 Foundation, a Swiss organization with a mission to build an open-source decentralized web. Founders include Denis Shehu (CEO), Andrzej Adam (CMO), Daniel Weiss, Robert Ciurkot (Global Head), and Paul Smith.
