What is Meowcoin?

Overview

Meowcoin is a smart contract platform and Layer 1 blockchain built on proof-of-work consensus. It aims to integrate blockchain technology into the animal sector while providing a mining-friendly environment for individual miners. A portion of block rewards is donated to animal shelters.

How it works

Meowcoin operates as a proof-of-work blockchain using the KaWPOW algorithm. The network processes transactions and issues new coins through mining, with a share of rewards directed to animal welfare initiatives.

Token and supply

MEWC is the native asset of the Meowcoin blockchain. The maximum supply is capped at 21 billion coins, with approximately 9.1 billion currently in circulation. New coins are issued through the block reward mechanism, with a portion allocated to philanthropic causes.
