What is Metronome Synth USD?
Collateral and issuance
Users deposit supported assets to create a synthetic position. The collateral must exceed the value of the issued debt. Supported backing includes stablecoins, ETH and selected yield-bearing tokens. Different assets have different collateral factors. These factors determine each account's borrowing capacity.
Synthetic marketplace
msUSD can be exchanged for other Metronome synthetic assets. The marketplace values swaps using current asset prices. Its documented trading fee is 0.45%. Converting between dollar and crypto synths changes the account's market exposure. System-wide mintage caps limit the amount of each synthetic asset that can be created.
Debt and network scope
The position remains subject to collateral requirements. A shortfall can trigger partial or full liquidation. Collateral deposits also have global caps. Metronome Synth is deployed on Ethereum, Optimism and Base. MET is the separate utility and governance token of the broader protocol. msUSD instead serves as its dollar-denominated synthetic asset.
