What is Monerium EUR emoney?
Euro issuance and safeguarding
Monerium received its electronic money license in 2019. Each EURe represents one euro of issued electronic money. Holders can redeem it at par with the issuer. Customer funds are safeguarded separately from Monerium's operating assets. The published safeguarding policy combines bank accounts with the State Street EUR Liquidity LVNAV Fund. The fund holds a diversified portfolio of short-duration assets.
Payments and accounts
EURe can move between compatible blockchain wallets. Monerium's banking integration connects supported wallets to IBAN accounts and SEPA payments. Incoming euros can therefore be converted into onchain electronic money. Outgoing bank payments redeem the corresponding onchain balance. Issuance and redemption determine the outstanding supply. Monerium does not pay interest on its electronic money tokens. EURe is a euro payment balance rather than a share in the reserve fund.
