What is Nillion?
Blind computation and a token migration
Nillion builds services that process data while limiting what infrastructure operators can read. Its March 2025 token launch established an initial supply of one billion NIL. The ecosystem subsequently moved toward Ethereum infrastructure. A March 2026 guide introduced a one-for-one conversion of native NIL into an Ethereum ERC-20 token. Claims use a snapshot-based verification process. Ethereum NIL can participate in the project's Blacklight infrastructure.
Blacklight's next network
In September 2026 Nillion opened migration preparations for Blacklight nodes moving from its L2 to Ethereum L1. The announced L1 launch date was October 5, 2026. Nodes will hold encrypted shares of conditional payloads called Covenants. When conditions are met, enough shares can reconstruct and verify a payload on Ethereum. The announced minimum stake is 70,000 NIL per operator. Planned L1 rewards combine trigger fees with 0.5% annual inflation. Operators also require ETH for Ethereum transaction costs. The migration guide keeps earlier earned L2 rewards claimable before that network's planned retirement.
