What is Nym?
Privacy architecture
Nym encrypts traffic and routes it through multiple mixing nodes. Mixing is intended to reduce the link between a sender, timing patterns and destination. Operators supply the infrastructure that processes this traffic. The Nyx blockchain coordinates parts of the network economy. Nyx uses the Cosmos SDK and supports CosmWasm contracts. NYM is used for network participation, service payments and rewards.
Issuance and representations
The native NYM allocation is one billion tokens. It was created at Nyx genesis in early 2022. Ethereum also has an ERC-20 representation of NYM. Gravity Bridge connects the native and Ethereum representations. Transfers between them use corresponding locking, burning and release procedures. The unusually large technical limit in the Ethereum contract does not describe an additional economic allocation. Node rewards draw on the network’s incentive framework. Holders can delegate participation to operators under its rules. NymVPN connects the infrastructure with consumer privacy services. The 2026 roadmap includes further private-payment and wallet integration work. Those roadmap items are separate from functions already deployed.
