What is OpenKaito?

Embedding models

The published subnet code describes a competition to train and serve text-embedding models. These models convert text into vectors for semantic comparison. Miners process batches of text using their own models. Validators evaluate the resulting embeddings against known relevance relationships. The scoring design uses contrastive learning loss. Benchmark comparisons test whether submissions improve on reference models. Semantic search and natural-language applications are intended uses of the output.

Infrastructure and token

The repository identifies this implementation as Bittensor subnet 5. Its earlier decentralized data-indexing implementation is retained as a legacy version. The roadmap includes a validator interface for serving embeddings to applications. Model training and model serving have separate computing requirements. SN5 is the subnet-specific alpha asset within Bittensor. It trades against TAO through the subnet's liquidity reserves. Delegated stake participates in the subnet incentive system. SN5 is separate from the KAITO token issued for Kaito's wider product ecosystem.
