What is OriginTrail?
Knowledge infrastructure
OriginTrail organizes data into interconnected Knowledge Assets. The graph makes those assets discoverable and records their provenance. Its current architecture supports shared context for cooperating AI agents. Working memory can remain private before information moves into shared and verifiable layers. Network nodes host and replicate the published data. Blockchain records provide a verification layer around those off-chain knowledge services. This allows applications to distinguish a data claim from its origin and supporting record.
Payments and stake
Publishers use TRAC to compensate node operators for hosting Knowledge Assets. Updates to published assets also create demand for those services. Node operators lock TRAC as collateral. Their stake influences participation in the hosting and fee system. Token holders can delegate TRAC to supporting nodes and share in their rewards. These rewards relate to DKG service provision rather than a guaranteed return from simply holding the token.
Issuance
TRAC launched on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token in 2018. Its fixed issuance is 500 million tokens. The token has 18 decimal places. OriginTrail supports TRAC and Knowledge Asset functionality across multiple blockchain environments. Network expansion uses the existing token economy rather than an inflationary mining subsidy.
